Since at least 2020, environmental issues and their link with our Christian faith have been a major topic of discussion among Christians in Montpellier. We could start by recalling the “God, ecology and me” project led by Richard Kemp over the year 2020 in partnership with the pastoral ministry. Regularly, different church leaders and members trained, shared and prayed behind their screens before being able to act together through a collective collection of 80kg of waste on the banks of the Lez on May 8, 2021 (see page 20 of our 2021-2022 activity report).

A local group in Montpellier

The craze hasn’t died down since! Richard is a regular contributor to the Ambassadors Network, and the various Montpellier Ambassadors teamed up to create the local A Rocha Montpellier group on Friday, November 25, 2022.

Today, the local A Rocha Montpellier group aims to :

– Respond to requests for training on the subjects of Christian faith & ecology
– Provide practical ideas for everyday action
– Propose local outings, for example to our Mas Mireille center with A Rocha France’s scientific manager Timothée Schwartz.
– Give serious thought to local church actions
