Ever heard of Digital Cleanup Day? It’s a global event, co-sponsored by the Institut du Numérique Responsable and World Cleanup Day – France, which aims to bring together all the players in the field to clean up our data, repair or recycle our digital equipment, in order to reduce our digital footprint.
The aim is to raise awareness of the growing impact of digital technology and take concrete action between 10 and 15 March 2025, by encouraging everyone to take part in one or more of the following operations: “Digital Cleanup Data”, “Digital Cleanup Reuse” and “Digital Cleanup Recycling”.
But why bother? While digital technology is a source of great progress, its acceleration is worrying for the environment. Digital technology is responsible for 3.2% of global greenhouse gas emissions today!📢
